Prince Buyeong’s Death – The King:Eternal Monarch Episode 10

I fell asleep last night while waiting for episode 10 so I watched it very early today. That was mistake because now I feel so sad that I have IU’s “Blueming” on repeat for 30 minutes now. Episode 10 broke my heart. Applause to everyone involved in this drama. Let me give you a brief summary(spoiler) of last night’s episode.

Lee Gon’s attempt to capture Lee Rim failed miserably. Jo Eun-sup got hospitalized for taking a bullet for him and 2 civilians were injured. Lee Rim is possibly worried that Lee Gon found out too much although he doesn’t show it. He still looks so calm and collected. That’s why I was so surprise by what he did next. He wanted to break Lee Gon and decided to get rid of another person in his life – Prince Buyeong. I was already crying my eyes out at this point. At first I thought, “No, he’s too important.” but then they had his funeral. Before Prince Buyeong’s death, Lee Gon went to visit him and told him to enter the palace because he will be away to catch Lee Rim. Lee Gon also promised that he will take care of himself and told Prince Buyeong to take care of himself, too. Then he died just as he’s about to go to the palace.

This definitely hurt Lee Gon a lot and that might be the reason why he went to see Jung Tae-eul. Their meeting was so short and sad. The kiss made it even sadder. When Jung Tae-eul opened her eyes after the kiss, Lee Gon was gone. And she cried as the episode ends.

I have so many questions.

The second in line is dead, who will replace him? (Although, I still hope he’s alive. He’s a good person and very smart. It’s possible he took the opportunity and faked his death in order to catch Lee Rim.)

What’s next for Kang Sin-Jae? Lee Rim said that bringing him to the Republic of Korea was a mistake. Is he a friend or foe?

It was revealed that Luna is terminally ill. Is this real or just a hoax so that she would be released early? (I’m hoping she will be on Lee Gon’s side. With her help, I think it would be easier for Jung Tae-Eul to accept Lee Gon’s proposal and be his queen.)

We only have six more episodes left. I admit there are boring episodes but I think the remaining six will be packed with goodness. It should all go uphill now, shouldn’t it? The preview for next week shows Jung Tae-eul in the Kingdom of Corea and she looks like she’s injured and running for her life. I can’t wait for next week. I hope it comes sooner.

The King : Eternal Monarch Review of the First Four Episodes

Did your heart skip a beat when you found out that Lee Min Ho accepted a new drama? Mine, too! It’s been a while and we’ve all been waiting impatiently for his comeback so now that it’s here I’ve decided to share my thoughts with you guys!

First, what an amazing cast! I’m not familiar with most of them but everybody’s doing a great job so far. Lee Min Ho’s performance make it seem like he didn’t take a long break. And Kim Go Eun’s charisma overflows as she portrays the role of a tough detective on this drama.

Fantasy is a genre that I really enjoy because there are a lot of possibilities if you have enough imagination. This drama is set on parallel universe – Kingdom of Corea & Republic of Korea. I’m getting sick of all the time travel so this plot is refreshing to me. But based on the first episode, it’s possible that there’s also time travelling included on this drama. We’ll find out soon enough.

Let me give you a quick recap on what happened so far.

On episode 1, we found out that a magical flute connects the parallel universe. Lee Rim killed his half-brother, the King, to get his hands on this flute. Lee Gon cut the flute in half with the King’s sword while trying to protect himself. Lee Rim was about to murder Lee Gon when a mysterious person wearing a mask showed up and saved him. The mysterious person dropped an ID issued on November 11, 2019 to Lieutenant Jeung Tae Eul. Lee Gon became king and he’s been looking for the mysterious person’s identity but unsuccessful for years. Until one day, fate brought him to the portal that allowed him to enter the parallel universe.

On episode 2, Lee Gon quickly realized that he’s no longer in his kingdom but happy to finally meet Lieutenant Jeung Tae Eul in person. Tae Eul was incredulous when Lee Gon told her the truth and she arrested him instead. She tried to find his identity but he’s nowhere on the database and had to release him. Lee Gon kept telling Tae Eul the truth but of course she still doesn’t believe him, so he offered to make her the queen.

On episode 3, the kingdom continued to cover up Lee Gon’s disappearance. Tae Eul dismissed Lee Gon’s offer to be his queen as one of his lies. This time, she asks for proof. Lee Gon brought her to the portal but since he didn’t bring the flute with him, the portal did not appear.

On episode 4, Lee Gon decided to go back to his kingdom since he has been absent for so long. Tae Eul, still not believing his stories, was surprised to know that he was actually gone. Back in his kingdom, Lee Gon went on with his activities while still covering up the fact that he left the palace. Tae Eul keeps getting evidence to support Lee Gon’s stories. The last piece of evidence that Lee Gon was telling the truth was when she got her new ID dated November 11, 2019. Lee Gon escaped from his palace and went back to see Tae Eul and offered to take her back with him to prove that he wasn’t lying. Tae Eul agreed and was shocked when she finally arrived on the Kingdom of Corea.

I can’t wait for the next episode! This is not the next DOTS or CLOY in my opinion but the story has a lot of potential. You know it’s a great story when you can’t guess what’s going to happen next. Are you watching this drama, too?
